The Freelance Marketplace Writers’ Group meets the third Tuesday of the month at the Rochester Hills Barnes & Noble Bookstore at 7:30 p.m. We are not a critique group – we discuss the business of writing. Join us once, once in a while, or every time. It’s free and open to new, working, and published writers, illustrators, and photographers. Author Ron Herron will be our guest moderator this month, Tuesday, January 21, for a general discussion on the business of writing. The 18+ Secrets of Successful Story Structure Workshop for Screenwriters, Novelists, and other Writers of shorter works. Saturday, April 5, 2014 at Oakland University. Presented by Rochester Writers. Our speaker will be Stanley D. Williams, Ph.D. Hollywood and Novelist Story Consultant, and author of the classic story structure book used in Hollywood, “The Moral Premise: Harnessing Virtue and Vice for Box Office Success.” After two years of presenting at the Rochester Writers’ Conference it was clear that attendees wanted an all day event with Stan on this topic. The all-day workshop will include lunch and refreshments, it will run from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. We just booked this event, details and registration will soon be posted.
A Rally of Writers is back for its 27th year in Lansing, MI. Saturday, April 12, 2014. Keynote speaker is Fleda Brown. All day writers’ conference with a variety of sessions.
The Detroit Working Writers, founded in 1900, will be hosting an all day writers’ conference on Saturday, May 17, 2014, as well as quarterly 2-hour workshops this year.
The Seventh Annual Rochester Writers’ Conference will be Saturday, October 4, 2014. Featuring Michigan Authors, Educators, and Speakers. Presented by Rochester Writers at Oakland University. Details and Registration will begin in the Spring.
